NATIONAL GALLERY OF SLOVENIA, LJUBLJANA; Narodna galerija (National Gallery of Slovenia) is the main art museum in Slovenia containing the largest visual arts collection from the late medieval period to the early twentieth century. The collection of paintings encompasses works painted on canvas, wooden base and pastels. It consists of 3337 items. In terms of content it is categorised into two groups, the Slovene and the European painting, with the former being much more numerous.

The National Gallery Society was founded in 1918. Thus from the first dreams of the initiators, and with the high cultural awareness of all Slovenes, the National Gallery developed into one of the most eminent cultural and artistic institutions.

The gallery is open every day, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Closed: Mondays, 1 January, 1 May, 1 November, 25 December.
