Foreign Minister Erjavec Visits Ukraine

Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec is visiting Ukraine today to meet his counterpart Pavlo Klimkin. The pair is expected to discuss economic cooperation and bilateral ties, the Foreign Ministry said.

The meeting will also focus on possible solutions to the armed conflict in Ukraine and on other international topical issues, the ministry said when it announced the visit last week.

The visit is meant as a show of solidarity and support to Ukraine as it faces extensive security, economic and social challenges.

Ukraine is currently facing a big crisis, after armed conflicts broke out between pro-Russian separatists and its army in April last year.

According to UN reports, some 6,500 people died in the conflicts so far, while 1.4 million people were forced to leave their homes because of war.
