World Network of Ljubljana University Established


The World Network of the Ljubljana University has been established in a bid to boost the quality of study programmes and international cooperation and reputation of the Ljubljana University. It will link respected scientists, professors and other people active in the academia and research and development outside Slovenia.

 

The Ljubljana University said after today's inaugural session of the network, held at the seat of the university, that it had set very bold development plans for the future, and that the network would bring positive effects in this regard.

 

A majority of the network's members are active in natural and social sciences, humanities, technical sciences and technology, medicine and health care. Most of them come from the US, UK, Italy and Germany.

 

 

 

 

The inaugural session elected Zlatko Skrbiš of the Monash University in Australia as president of the network. He will also sit in the network's council along with Jernej Ule of the University College London, Manja Klemenčič of the Harvard University and Ljubljana University Vice-Chancellor Martin Čopič.

 

The council will prepare a nine-year work programme on the basis of today discussion featuring its members, the Ljubljana University said in a press release.
