The leaders of Greece’s three main parties meeting for late night talks

21. 06. 2013

The future of Greece's fragile coalition government at stake.

It was the third round of talks this week between Prime Minister Samaras, and his two leftist coalition partners Kouvelis and Venizelos.

They failed to reach a compromise on how to handle the closure of state broadcaster ERT.

Now the leader of the Democratic Left, Kouvelis, says he may pull out of the coalition.

The Prime Minister says he's determined to continue.

The Greek PM's decision to shut down the state broadcaster essentially signaled the end of the three party government coalition. But without the support of the Democratic Left in Parliament and the help from PASOK only, Antonis Samaras will be left with a slim majority of four. And that might spell trouble at any time.

At ERT, employees applauded Kouvelis for his stance. His party wants to see the broadcaster reopen while it is being restructured.
