‘The Artist’ takes the honours at the Oscars


Jean Dujardin's performance as a silent movie star whose career nose dives with the arrival of talkies has been charming audiences world wide.

 

 

Elsewhere best actress went to Meryl Streep who won her third Oscar of her career for her stunning portrayal of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady'. The other film to take five Oscars was Martin Scorsese's 3-D production Hugo which tells of a boy lost in a train station which serves as an ode to early film making. But if it was a night for looking back, history was also made when Christopher Plummer, at the age of 82 became the oldest actor ever to win an Oscar with for his supporting role in ‘Beginners'.
