Tax Administration Files Proposal for Receivership at Aha Mura

The Tax Administration (DURS) filed a proposal for receivership of Aha Mura, one of the successors of former clothing giant Mura on 4 February, the Murska Sobota District Court said on Monday.

The move has caused outrage at the clothing maker, with the management stressing that DURS broke its promise to give the company until the end of March to find a partner to pay its debts to the country and banks as well as secure working capital.

According co-owner of Aha Mura Mojca Lukančič, this was agreed at a meeting with government representatives and trade unions at the end of the year.

Also Murska Sobota Mayor Anton Štihec, who also attended the meeting, said that when asked what the company expected from the state, Lukančič answered it needed until the end of March to operate normally and get the needed funds to repay its debts.

DURS would not give any information about the company, but noted that it had not broken any agreements in the matter.

In general, the administration has to exhaust all other options to get the money back before it files a proposal for receivership, DURS said, adding that the proposal did not mean that receivership was launched and when it is, it mostly depends on the debtor and the court.
