Statistics Office to Release GDP Data for Q2

The Statistics Office will release figures on Slovenia's economic output in the second quarter of the year. According to season and working days adjusted data, the country's GDP grew by 0.2% in the first quarter on the quarter before, but contracted by 0.8% year-on-year.

The Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development, a government think-tank, assessed that the country's economic trends in the first quarter had been quite favourable with stronger-than-expected household and state consumption.

Unadjusted data showed that Slovenia's economy shrank by an annual rate of 0.2% in the first quarter. While being the third consecutive quarter of contraction at annual level, it was the smallest drop in GDP since Slovenia's economy technically entered recession in the second quarter of 2011.

The Statistics Office will also release consumer price index data for August. Slovenia's annual inflation rate rose by 0.1 percentage point to 2.4% in July. Still, consumer prices fell by 1% on the month before.
