Slovenian Company to Decorate Kremlin for Holiday Season

Holiday decorations by Slovenian company Pro-Mak will adorn the offices of Russian President Vladimir Putin this holiday season. Pro-Mak was given the honour after its pavilion was proclaimed the most beautiful at Russia's biggest decorations fair.

Pro-Mak's pavilion at at the GIFTS EXPO in Moscow was deemed the most beautiful of all 550 exhibitors, Marka Karpan, the driving force behind the family business told the press in Ljubljana on Thursday.

"We did not go to Moscow to get an award but to enter a new market," said Karpan, whose company sells flowers made of silk and other decorations.

They will decorate Putin's offices in the Kremlin with Christmas trees and ornaments in gold and red, son Martin Karpan told the press.

He told the press that it generally takes companies three years after entering the Russian market to break even. Among other things, the company will have to get pricey certificates for each of their products.

This is however not the first time for Pro-Mak to work in Russia. 19 years ago, the company cooperated with Slovenian industrial group Kovintrade, furnishing 2,500 offices of energy giant Gazprom, as well as the residence of Gazprom boss and former Russian Prime Minister Viktor Chernomyrdin.
