Slovenia Remains Committed to OSCE


In what was the first visit by a Slovenian defence minister to the OSCE, Jakič stressed the importance of the idea of a European defence architecture in the sense of improving European, Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian security and stability.

 

He stressed that SE Europe remains a key foreign policy priority for Slovenia, which is focusing on regional cooperation and security.

 

 

Jakič and Zannier moreover exchanged views on the future of Afghanistan and the Western Balkans, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.

 

The minister assured the secretary general that Slovenia will keep playing an active role in the OSCE and officially invited him to the Comprehensive Regional Conference of Defence Ministry, to be hosted by Slovenia in the autumn.

 

Meanwhile, Jakič and Austrian Defence Minister Klug assessed cooperation as good, including in regional initiatives where they carry responsibility for security and stability in SE Europe and the Western Balkans.

 

Jakič moreover met representatives of Slovenia's Permanent Representation to the UN, the OSCE and other international organisations in Vienna.
