Erjavec expressed conviction that Kerry's rich political career will positively contribute to his performing of this responsible and important duty.
The Slovenian minister is confident that the excellent relations and cooperation between Slovenia and the US will continue during Kerry's stint at the helm of the US State Department. He also expressed a wish for more economic cooperation and invited Kerry to Slovenia for a visit.
The minister also thanked the outgoing Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for cooperation and a job well done and wished her all the best in her "future efforts for the common good".
The 69-year-old Kerry was confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday in a 94-3 vote. He will be sworn in as the 68th US Secretary of State on Friday.
