September Plenary Begins With Q&A Session

The lawmakers will begin the plenary session with a vote on whether to extend the plenary agenda with a proposal for a bad bank, which the government adopted last week. The proposal is the centrepiece of government efforts to purge bank balance sheets of soured loans and kick-start lending.

The plenary will continue with questions for the cabinet and government secretary general Božo Predalič. Topics are most likely to revolve around the labour and pension reforms and changes to the higher education act and the funding of universities.Prime Minister Janez Janša will not be taking question from the floor today as he is in New York for the UN General Assembly which is taking place between 24 September and 1 October. Janša is expected answer questions on 2 October.
