Rogaška Slatina Hotels Get New Owner

Three landmark hotels operating as part of the Rogaška Slatina spa resort, which were seized by the Austrian-owned Hypo Alpe Adria financial group in 2013, have been sold to what business paper Finance reports is a Russian-owned company, SLKI.

Grand Hotel Rogaška, Hotel Styria and Hotel Strossmayer, which date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries, were confiscated by Hypo after their former owner Jožef Pipenbaher failed to pay back millions in loans and leased to UK company UK Hamilton Hotel Partners.

Heta Asset Resolution, Hypo's "bad bank", published a call for bids in July last year and now executed the sale to SLKI. It would not disclose the details of the deal, while announcing that the ownership change would not affect the hotels' staff or guests.

Finance reported today that the Rogaška Slatina-based SLKI was established at the end of last year and is owned by Sergey Katsiev and Ljudmila Katsieva.

The company's director is Roman Šipec, who announced SLKI would strive to further improve the scope and quality of the services.

"One of the important tasks will also be caring for the employees, as we are aware that people are key to a high quality of services in tourism," Šipec said.
