Renovated Mons Hotel Reopened under Sheraton Brand

Hotel giant Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide added Ljubljana's Mons Hotel to its collection of more than thousand hotels in almost 100 countries. After closing the deal in late 2013, Mons underwent an exhaustive five-month renovation to get a new name and image under Four Points by Sheraton.

The hotel will not change owners, and the current management will stay on, Mons's owner, the Kranjska investicijska družba (KID) investment firm, announced upon signing the cooperation agreement.

Situated halfway between the Ljubljana airport the centre of the capital, Four Points by Sheraton is targeting business travellers and small conventions.

Besides accommodation facilities, the hotel also offers six conference halls on some 850 square meters as well as three smaller conference rooms.

As part of the renovation to meet the standards of a Four Points hotel, Mons had to completely refurbish its 114 rooms, reception lobby, hotel bar and gym.

The hotel was reopened on Thursday evening, with KID director Jože Anderlič saying at the ceremony that Starwood was stimulating the hotel industry in Slovenia.

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide is a US hotel and leisure company headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut. It owns, operates, franchises and manages hotels, resorts, spas, residences, and vacation ownership properties under its nine brands.

The cooperation with Mons Ljubljana is part of a broader strategy of Starwood under which 50 Sheraton hotels are to be opened across Europe in the next five years.
