Registered Unemployment Rate Down for Fourth Month in a Row


Slovenia's registered unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 percentage points to 12.8% in June, which is on par with June 2013. This is the fourth consecutive monthly drop.

 

 

The unemployment rate declined in all statistical regions bar Pomurje in the north-east, where it rose by 0.8 percentage points to 17.9%, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

 

 

 

The number of registered jobless persons decreased by just over 2,300 to 117,352, while the latest data from the

Employment Service show a further decrease of about 1,200 for July.

 

According to data from the Statistics Office, some 1,800 men and 500 women were crossed from the unemployment records in June.

 

Compared to the month before, the registered unemployment rate for men was down from 12.1% to 11.7% for men

and from 14.2% to 14% for women.

 

In June 2013, the rate for men was 0.4 percentage points higher, while it was 0.5 percentage points lower for women.

 

As in May, the decline was the sharpest in the 15-29 age group, where it dropped by 0.7 percentage points to 21.7%. The least noticeable drop was recorded in the 30-54 age group (by 0.1 percentage point to 9.9%).

 

The active population numbered 802,100 in June, which is 2,000 more than the month before and up 5,600 year-on-year.

 

The working-age population meanwhile decreased by some 300 to stand at 919,500, while it stood at 913,000 in the same period last year.
