A record 50,000 revellers spent New Year's Eve in the centre of Ljubljana, capping an overall record-setting year for Slovenia's capital, according to the local tourism board.
In previous years up to 40,000 used to usher in the New Year outdoors in Ljubljana, with this year's figure exceeding all expectations, Turizem Ljubljana said on Thursday.
Initial estimates suggest that Ljubljana attracted 500,000 visitors through 2013, up nearly a tenth over the year before, while the number of overnight stays rose 11% to 954,000.
