Positive Trend in Slovenia's External Balance Continues

Slovenia's surplus in transactions with the rest of the world stood at EUR 280.3m or 3.4% of GDP in the first quarter of this year, on the back of strong exports and weakening imports, the Statistics Office said.

Exports of goods and services rose 2.2% in the first quarter over the year before, with imports down 1.8%.

"Exports remain a bright light, which has a positive impact on the national economic indicators," the Statistics Office said.

This signals a continuation of the positive trend from last year, when whole-year surplus in transactions with the rest of the world stood at EUR 902.6m or 2.5% of GDP.
