PM Bratušek Attending China-CEE Summit

PM Alenka Bratušek will take part in Bucharest in a meeting of prime ministers from Central and Eastern Europe with their Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang to debate closer ties. A separate meeting with Li is scheduled, apart from meetings with the Bulgarian, Hungarian and Romanian prime ministers.

The meeting, which is also attended by Infrastructure and Spatial Planning Minister Samo Omerzel, is being organised for the third year running and will build on the idea of cooperation for mutual development and joint progress, Bratušek's office said in a press release.

Bratušek is expected to hold a trilateral meeting with Bulgarian and Hungarian counterparts Plamen Oresharski and Viktor Orban, while separate meetings with Oresharski, Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta and China's Li are planned too.

The prime ministers from Central and Eastern Europe and China last met in April 2012 in Warsaw.

The meeting was hailed as a success by the then Slovenian PM Janez Janša, who pointed to China's 12 proposals to boost economic development.

China, which completed a power change with the new president Xi Jinping this year, is the world's second strongest economy and Slovenian companies are also increasingly turning towards it.
