Pensioner´s Party Leaving Coalition Today

DeSUS decided to leave coalition on 5 February, as they were no longer willing to work with Prime Minister Janez Janša, who had been found of violating the anti-corruption law.

Following the party's decision to leave the coalition, Janša removed Erjavec from talks between Slovenia and Croatia on Yugoslav-era savings deposits in the Zagreb branch of the defunct LB bank.

Apart from Erjavec and Gantar, state secretary at the PM's office Janez Ujčič and Health Ministry state secretary Brigita Čokl will also resign. DeSUS secretary general Ljubo Jasnič already stepped down as state secretary at the PM's office on 24 January.

Meanwhile, parties that want to form a new coalition and oust the Janša government appear to be inching closer to a deal, as talks were under way Thursday on a new government to be led by the interim leader of the Positive Slovenia (PS), Alenka Bratušek, who had been informally put forward as PM-designate.
