President Borut Pahor has called the first conference as part of his Slovenia 2030 project for 23 April.
He said in the invite sent out to a broad circle of "people with different views" on Saturday that the goal was to to form a long-term vision for Slovenia.
The conference will discuss on two issues.
The first will focus on whether it is even possible and sensible to form a long-term vision and whether unpredictable changes in the society hindered such a vision or whether the lack of a vision made the crisis worse.
The second topic will discuss whether the global crisis was merely a cyclic event or whether it was a herald of paradigmatic changes in European and global development in the first half of 21st century.
