“No decision reached” on whether Turkey will let US use airbases in fight against ISIL

Fighting continued in the Syrian town of Kobani, close to the border with Turkey, on Monday night.

Kurdish troops are defending it against Islamic State forces who have laid siege to the town. The United States and Saudi Arabia have hit some ISIL targets with airstrikes.

The US has asked to use Turkish air bases to launch their attacks Turkish officials say no agreement has been reached yet.

"There is nothing new on Incirlik airbase apart from the ongoing cooperation against terrorism. We are discussing providing some facilities for the ‘train and supply' project but we have not reached any decisions yet," Turkish deputy minister Bulent Arinc said.

The jihadists have been advancing on Kobani for four weeks and are understood to have control of almost half of the town.
