New Ambassador to US Taking Over

Roman Kirn, Slovenia's Ambassador to the USA, has left Washington, DC, to take over as ambassador in The Hague. The new Ambassador to the US Božo Cerar is expected to move to Washington shortly.

Kirn left on Wednesday after his term ended. A seasoned diplomat, Kirn has previously also served as Slovenia's ambassador at the UN.

The incoming Ambassador Cerar served as Foreign Ministry state secretary before the appointment.

Kirn thanked the Slovenian community in the US for their support and efforts to preserve strong ties between the two countries.

Among the US top officials who bid Kirn farewell at one of several receptions were also President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.
