National Geopraphic photo exhibit in Tivoli Park

A new exhibition in Ljubljana's Tivoli Park shows National Geograhic photos from Slovenia and the USA.

In these few days before Christmas, Ljubljana keeps being busy, too busy for some people.

Who wants to flee the hectic city centre can take a little walk around Tivoli Park, the green lung of Ljubljana, which is usually quieter than the rest of the city.

Attentive visitors may have already remarked: since the end of November you can find a rich photo exhibition in front of Tivolski Grad, on the so-called Jakopič Promenade.

It is currently the venue of the "We do care: an inspiration to everyone to take care of our planet"-exhibit presented by The National Geographic magazine and the embassy of the USA in Slovenia.

The collection features 120 large-format photos of scenes from nature from the USA and Slovenia, shot by renowned National Geographic photographers.

The pictures on display should remind us, how beautiful this planet is. And that we have only one earth and we should act more consciously facing this fact.

Furthermore, the exhibition should inspire people to find ways how to better look after our planet.

The exhibition was also organized in support of the recent efforts of Slovenian ecologists to clean up the country from illegal rubbish damps.

The clean-up operations carried out in Slovenia in 2010 and earlier this year mobilized 13% of the country's population and are considered to be among the most successful of their kind so far.

The photos will be on display until the 30th of January 2014, there is no entry fee.
