More than 30 dead in Russian plane crash

The flight had just taken off for Surgut, an oil town further north in Siberia, with 43 people on board when it got into trouble. All four crew members are said to be among the dead.

Injured survivors were flown to hospital by helicopter after the plane caught fire after coming down. At least five are said to be in a critical condition. The cause of the crash isn't known. Reports say the flight recorders have been recovered. It's the deadliest air disaster in Russia since a Yak-42 plane crashed near the city of Yaroslavl last September, killing 44 people and wiping out the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team.
