The 10th Month of Design Ljubljana will begin at publisher Mladinska knjiga's printing house and the former Merkur store on Dunajska street on Monday, bringing more than 30 exhibitions, conferences and other events. An award ceremony for achievements in design will start the festival.
New Forces will be the central theme of the festival, which is organised by the Zavod Big institute and will provide a comprehensive overview of design in an expanded form this year to honour the anniversary.
An international conference on design management, an architectural conference entitled Values, Goal and Purpose, as well as a conference entitled Wooden Skyscrapers: Dreams or Reality, are scheduled.
The 13 exhibitions featured include The Best of Slovenian Design, a retrospective on the Charm of Wood and an architectural exhibition on the Houses of the World.
The main events will take place at the mentioned locations on Dunajska street 123 and 125. Both buildings are part of the post-war architecture of Savin Sever (1927-2003), the organisers said.
