Looking for the New Head of Public Broadcaster

The programming council of RTV Slovenija will meet to appoint a new director general of the public broadcaster as incumbent Marko Filli's four-year term runs out on 25 May. While Filli is running for another term, he has been joined by several public figures who are interested in the job.

Information Commissioner Nataša Pirc Musar, whose term ends later this year, is in the running alongside former FM Dimitrij Rupel.

Rupel, who retired last year, has recently tried to get appointed the head of the national anti-corruption watchdog.

Editor of TV Slovenija's channel 3 Ljerka Bizilj has also confirmed she has applied for the job.

In-house trade unions and the workers' council invited the candidates to present their programmes and ideas to the broadcaster's employees, but only Bizilj and Rupel did so, whereas Filli, Pirc Musar and another candidate, Roman Kolar, excused themselves. The sixth applicant is Marko Makarovič, a former employee of RTV Slovenija.
