Krško N-Plant at Full Power Despite Low Water Levels

The permit, valid until the end of October, allows the plant's systems to discharge cooling water at a temperature of 3.5 degrees centigrade higher than that of the Sava. Normally, the discharge can be up to 3 degrees warmer.

While the low water level can affect the plant's generating capacity, it does not influence its safety, the NEK stressed on Monday. Weeks of dry and hot weather this summer have affected river levels across Slovenia. Farmers have been hit particularly badly, with nearly 100,000 hectares of farmland affected by the drought. The hardest hit produce is grass that is used for fodder, maize, vegetables and apple orchards.
