Kenyan runners dominated the 19th Ljubljana Marathon Sunday which saw Ishimael Bushendich equalise the event record with a run of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 25 seconds. In the women's competition the Kenyan Romo Janet won by a wide margin.
Bushendich, who finished fourth last year, opened a gap to the head group several kilometres from the finish line and beat the runner-up, Elijah Keitany, by 12 seconds. Edwin Kibet Koech was third, 39 seconds adrift.
Among the women Janet clocked in 2 hours, 29 minutes and 16 seconds, besting the Ethiopian Kedir Rehima by more than three minutes. Agnes Mutane finished third, one minute behind the runner-up.
