Gunman kills seven in US college shooting

A man is in custody after opening fire at a private college in California. Seven people died in the attack, three more were wounded.

Witnesses tell of chaotic scenes as police SWAT teams surrounded the area at first trying to identify how many gunmen were on the loose. Oakland's Oikos university has links to the Korean Christian community - all the dead are said to be Korean adults. The suspect was eventually apprehended at a super market several kilometres away from the scene of the shooting. He has been identified as 43-year-old Huan Goh who was a former nursing student who had dropped out of his course. Police have given no motive for the rampage which comes just over a month after a student gunman in Ohio opened fire in a high school cafeteria killing three youngsters.
