Greenpeace's Rainbow Warrior Docks in Koper

Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior III will visit Slovenia for the first time on Friday, sailing into the port of Koper in support of the local Greenpeace campaign for renewable energy sources "The sun is free".

The ship will first open its doors to Slovenian officials and the press this morning, while members of the general public will be able to visit it on Friday afternoon as well as on Saturday.

The Rainbow Warior III was built specifically for Greenpeace to prevent environmental crimes around the world.

The crowd-funded yacht sails primarily under wind power, making it one of the "greenest" ships afloat, according to the NGO.

The yacht is the third of its kind after the first one was sunk by the French Intelligence Service in 1985 and the second was donated to Bangladesh to be used as a hospital.

Greenpeace's fleet has already visited Koper: icebreaker Artcic Sunrise anchored in Koper in April last year to raise awareness about the negative impact of industrial fishing.
