Greek elections: Syriza leader holds final campaign rally

The leader of Greece's radical left Syriza party has reaffirmed that he will scrap the country's international bailout deal.

Alexis Tsipras was speaking at his final campaign rally before this weekend's parliamentary election re-run, brought about by last month's inconclusive vote. He also vowed to keep the country in the euro. According to the last published polls, Tsipras is running neck-and-neck with conservative New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras.Samaras has based his political campaign on trying to convince Greeks - the majority of whom want to keep the euro - that his party is the only choice to prevent economic collapse. He has described Syriza's rejection of the bailout, which has led to harsh austerity measures, as dangerous and irresponsible. Socialist leader Evangelos Venizelos has also been fighting a pro-bailout, pro-eurozone campaign. The election is being watched closely, an election that will determine the financial future of debt-ridden Greece and the eurozone.
