FinMin Proposes New Taxes Before Leaving Govt

Coupled with the already raised excise duties on fuel, the new taxes are to provide the missing budget revenues on which the government was counting from the scrapped increase in VAT for a number of services, including print media, he explained.

According to the Šušteršič, who tendered his resignation on Thursday after his Citizens' List (DL) left the government, the bad bank should be the top priority and should be established within three months, when the it will be able to start cleaning banks' balance sheets.

He said the Finance Ministry had already proposed three foreign experts in the field as non-executive directors for the bad bank.

As regards the sovereign holding, the ministry has also proposed a classification of state investments, which will serve as a basis for their transfer to the holding.

Along with the ministry's proposal for three supervisors of the holding, the classification must be debated by the government and then sent to the National Assembly, Šušteršič said.
