Finance Minister Presenting Govt Priorities to Eurogroup

Finance Minister Dušan Mramor will attend a session of the Eurogroup Monday, his first meeting with his eurozone peers since he was appointed minister. He is expected to present Slovenia's fiscal priorities, most notably the government's plans to revise the budgets for 2014 and 2015.

It is customary for a new finance minister to present government priorities. Mramor had been finance minister before and a "very structured presentation" is expected, the STA learnt from well-placed sources in Brussels.

Mramor's presentation will coincide with a Eurogroup debate on budgetary plans for 2015, which the member states need to submit to the European Commission by 15 October.

The plans will be analysed by the Commission and the Eurogroup will debate them at its 21 November meeting.

Another item on the agenda for the minister will be efforts to increase investments with a view to strengthen fiscal sustainability, which will be discussed at an eurozone summit on 23 October.
