Euro zone looks to Franco-German summit

Europe expects! With the stakes high for the future of the single currency, French and German leaders are to meet in Paris in the midst of the raging euro zone debt crisis.

But even before Chancellor Angela Merkel sits down with President Nicholas Sarkozy the word is that nothing sensational is likely to be announced.

Although many in the financial world see the creation of a eurobond as the best way to help debt-laden Greece and other struggling euro zone members, this is strongly opposed by Germany. Instead a lesser joint Franco-German bond could be a possibility along with a commitment to improve economic management and cooperation within the zone.
