A number of events will be held across Slovenia on Wednesday to demonstrate support for environmental protection as part of the celebration of Earth Day, marked annually on 22 April.
Running this year under the slogan "It's Our Turn to Lead", Earth Day will be marked in Ljubljana with an eco conference and an award ceremony for best school article on environmental protection.
The environmental event dubbed "Don't Lose the Ground Under Our Feet" will be held in Maribor, while the EU info point will organise a workshop on recycling and re-use in Koper.
A documentary on Brazilian social documentary photographer and photojournalist Sebastiao Salgado and a documentary on the vanishing glaciers by Matjaž Fistravec will also be screened in Ljubljana.
Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, and is now being marked in more than 192 countries.
