Early music to be heard all over Slovenia

This year's festival of early music - Seviqc Brežice - will again showcase a wide selection of local and international artists performing pieces of early music in special venues all over Slovenia.

Seviqc Brežice is the abbreviation of the Latin expression Semper Viva Quam Creata, which means 'Always alive as created'. The name of the festival is a contribution to the focus on live music, which is performed in culturally important venues all over the country. Taking place until the 7th September, the festival tries to bring early music back to life.

The history of Seviqc Brežice itself started in 1985 and since then the goal has not really changed: to show the colourfulness of musical styles from different European countries, from the middle ages to the beginning of the 20th century, thus breaking the stereotypes on the average opinion on classical and early music.

All the performances take place in Slovenian cultural heritage sites, for example in the castles in Turjak and Brežice or the historical site at Rogaška Slatina. As Seviqc Brežice is not a festival centered in Ljubljana, but in various venues all over Slovenia, the support of the locals is an important point of the festival. It tries to brind together Slovenian artists with big names on the international stage to create new synergies in the field of early music.
