Croatian PM to Attend Ratification of Accession Treaty in Ljubljana

The Slovenian National Assembly is set to ratify the treaty after the countries reached an agreement on the means of resolving the LB bank issue.

Speaking at a session of the Croatian government dedicated to the country's EU accession, Pusić said that the relations between Croatia and Slovenia were "better than ever". She pointed to the "partnership in the agreement on the solving of the LB bank dispute".

The agreement on how the issue should be resolved was reached by Pusić and her Slovenian counterpart Karl Erjavec in Otočec in early February, which paved the way for the Slovenian and Croatian prime ministers to sign a memorandum on the matter.

The memorandum envisages that the issue of foreign currency savings deposits in the defunct Slovenian bank will be solved as part of succession issues regarding the former Yugoslavia.

Slovenia was the last EU member to start the ratification process for Croatia's accession to the EU, which is scheduled for 1 July. Ratification procedures are still ongoing in Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Germany, while the process has been completed in 22 member states.

The parliamentary Foreign Policy Committee gave the green light for the ratification in a unanimous vote on 20 March.
