A double attack in Quetta saw the worst of the atrocities. More than 80 people are reported killed and over 100 injured.
The first explosion happened in a snooker hall in a predominantly Shi'ite neighbourhood; residents said it looked like a suicide attack.
Most of the casualties came in the second blast about 10 minutes later. A car bomb went off at the same site. A cameraman and several policemen were among those killed.
A separatist group fighting for independence for Balochistan claimed responsibility for the first attack. An extremist Sunni group which targets Shias said it carried out the second.
Balochistan is the largest of Pakistan's four regions in terms of land area, but has the smallest population. Quetta is the capital of the region which has been marked by a separatist rebellion and sectarian fighting.
The northwestern Swat valley was the scene of the day's other bombing. More than 20 people were killed and 60 injured in the blast at a religious gathering in the town of Mingora.
It is more than two years since one attack has claimed so many lives in the region.
Some of the injured are critical and hospital sources say they fear the toll may rise.
