Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiakos win to secure Champions League qualification

Bayer Leverkusen and Olympiakos are both through to the next round of the Champions League.

The German side progressed after winning 1-0 at Group A basement team Real Sociedad.

They beat Shakhtar Donetsk to second place in the table after the Ukranians lost to Manchester United.

Olympiakos qualified narrowly from Group C, winning 3-1 over Anderlecht.

That meant they finished on the same points (10) as Benfica, but went through because they had scored one more goal than the Portuguese side.

But matters are not concluded in Group B, where snow caused the Galatasaray-Juventus game to be abandoned after 32 minutes. Both teams are vying for second spot in the group.

Leaders Real Madrid finished top after winning 2-0 at bottom club FC Copenhagen.

In Group D Manchester City secured a famous 3-2 away victory at last year's Champions League winners Bayern Munich.

They avenged Bayern's victory in Manchester but it is the German club who finished top of Group D on goal difference.
