Basketball Worlds: New Win for Slovenia

Slovenia beat Angola 93:87 (17:17, 44:43, 65:66) in Las Palmas on Wednesday to stay unbeaten and keep their lead in group D at the Basketball World Cup.

It was the toughest challenge for Slovenia so far at the tournament, as the motivated Angolan team stayed with Slovenia throughout the match.

Indeed, Slovenia was forced to fight back from a third quarter deficit to take control in the final period.

Solid free throw shooting and an improved defence in the final quarter helped the Slovenians gain the upper hand.

Small forward Domen Lorbek led a balanced Slovenian attack, boasting four scorers in double digits, with 17 points. Star point guard Goran Dragić had 14.
