Ban Imposed on Hot Air Balloon Flights

The Civil Aviation Agency has issued a ban on all commercial flights on its website in line with a recommendation of its investigative team.

The ban comes after Thursday's crash some 10 kilometres south of Ljubljana claimed four lives, including the lives of an 11-year-old girl and her mother. Two victims of the crash are still fighting for their lives and several are still in hospitals. The balloon, which crashed during landing, carried 32 people, mostly Slovenian nationals but also two Italians and two British people. The two Italians sustained minor injuries and were soon discharged from hospital. The investigation into the accident continues with some findings expected to be presented this week. Preliminary findings show that the accident was caused by low-altitude wind shear, caused by incoming storm.
