A British newspaper says it obtained over 3,000 mails from an opposition activist who claims a mole within the president's inner circle gave him the account password.
In a separate leak President Assad is said to have shared a video mocking the Arab League's inability to spot armoured vehicles. In it, a presumed regime sympathiser uses a toy car and biscuits to represent hidden tanks in the battered city of Homs. Other mails believed to have been sent between the president and his wife, document the couple's continued lavish lifestyle with purchases of jewellery and furniture from around the world. The newspaper says it has tried to authenticate the mails but can't rule out the possibility some could be fake.
