Actor Boris Cavazza Wins Lifetime Showbiz Award


Cavazza, 74, is also the winner of the Borštnik Ring and the Prešeren Prize, the highest national accolades for achievements in theatre and arts and culture, respectively. He was very brief in his thank-you speech: "Join me for some wine and enjoy the rest of the evening."

 

Meanwhile, public TV Slovenija's Odmevi was awarded the best news show for the 11th time, with one of its anchors Rosvita Pesek stressing in her thank-you speech that "guests would come to Odmevi because they know the show is unbiased". Her colleague Slavko Bobovnik, on the other hand, became the best news host.

 

"Eyes and Ears of God - Video Surveillance of Sudan" by activist Tomo Križnar and director Maja Weiss won the Viktor for best documentary. The film is yet another in a series of Križnar's stories about the genocide of natives in Sudan.

 

The Viktors for outstanding achievements meanwhile went to Rok Predin, an animation artist who has animated, among others, the "Doom and Gloom" video by Rolling Stones, and to Špas teater, a commercial theathre house which promotes comedy.

 

 

 

Planet Siol.net was chosen the best website, Radio Veseljak the best radio station and comedian Denis Avdić of Radio 1 the best radio host.

 

Actor Peter Poles was conferred the award for best entertainment show host, with the Viktor for best TV entertainment show going to X-Factor aired by the commercial Pop TV channel.

 

Akademija Viktor, a panel of experts from different areas which decides who wins which Viktor, also awarded popfolk band Modrijani as the best music act.
