75% Open Source


As many as 72% of the Slovenian companies with at least 10 employees used open source software, the Statistics Office said, adding that most of them used open-source internet browsers.

 

 

Large companies with more than 250 employees (79%) were especially fond of using open source software, while the most used programmes were internet browsers, by 64% of the companies. Internet browsers were followed by open source office software, which was used in 37% of the companies and open source operating systems (18%).

In regard to the company's activity, open source software was used more often among the companies in services (75%), than by those in manufacturing (69%). According to the data, 32% of the companies with at least 10 employees sent out electronic invoices in January and 5% used radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies for identifying persons or access control.
