19th SILA Bazaar, »harmony of cultures«

The first day of festive December, members of the Slovenian International Ladies Association (SILA) and wives of foreign ambassadors to Slovenia, will traditionally presenting culture of their countries and selling specific products, from the distant and nearby parts, at Gospodarsko razstavišče Ljubljana.

In Slovenia, the unique SILA charity bazaar is becoming bigger with every year. This year, at bazaar are presenting 36 countries, 3 countries more than previous year's bazaar, which was attended by the record 6,500 visitors that collected € 82,000 charitable funds.

As mentioned Aleid Douma, wife of the Dutch ambassador to Slovenia and president of SILA, the principle of SILA, "share and care" is realized in the bazaar proceeds, which is intended for charity purposes of Slovenian inhabitants. This year SILA supported 17 charity projects, among them are organizations for children's and adults help, to two families with child with the long-term illness, underage asylum seekers, single mothers, victims of domestic violence and the homeless people.

At SILA bazaar, in addition to their stands, countries will also presenting via art corner, "items from the mother's chest" and the second hand clothes and books corners. And this year, there will also be organized kids' corner. Wives of foreign ambassadors to Slovenia promise low prices for charitable purposes, in particular, they want that people will visit the event with the heart. Kimono for women and pastries will be sold at the Japanese booth, chocolate and aromatic coffee will be served by the Swiss.

German booth will be marked by the festive gifts and in addition to this; Germans will also donate the airline tickets for visiting Hamburg. To gain the tickets and other practical prizes, bazaar's visitors will compete in a charity lottery.

On the Hungarian booth you will warm up with the Palinka and red peppers, Macedonian Lutenica and red wine will be selling at the Macedonian booth. India will be presented in colors and the special impact will be on the new cookbook "SILA, flavors of India". The book collects more than 130 recipes for lovers of new flavors and different culinary approaches.

The diverse intercultural program will feature professional and amateur musicians. A touch of the Orient will create the belly dancers group, the instruments will play musicians from Serbia and Italy and the singing show will be provided by singers of the Ljubljana Opera House. On the bazaar's stage will also present Greek dancers and for the bazaar's opening the organizers promised "big surprise"...
